Immerse yourself in the future of fashion


  A fashion show with creations of native print artist Anne Hanning will be held at Charles Darwin University.

The show takes place in a two-day symposium to take indigenous knowledge in a changing world, from Sunday.

Mrs. Hanning is a local printing designer suits for international bathroom Kooey label, the official swimwear sponsor for Miss Universe.

She said the current range of the brand - Kooey by Scherri Lee Biggs - will feature in the exhibition with pieces from previous collections.

"There are lots of pastels in this new area," she said.

"It's not very often that one with pastel Aboriginal art you usually see strong, earthy tones, so it's quite a contrast. Previously I have many different colors and patterns."

Mrs. Hanning said she had selected six Aboriginal girls modeling swimsuits and kaftans exposure.

Mrs. Hanning said she would "give an overview of the Australian native fashion industry."

"There are not many ways Aboriginal owned and managed, that a statement in the industry," she said.

Mrs. Hanning wants to change that.

"Louis Vuitton monogram bag louis every one knows when they see one," she said.

"My question is where is our national fashion icon?

"I'd like to see someone come on board and to allow this, and more opportunities for Aboriginal artists is ... produce things in the world."
