By a stellar line-up of new design talent, accepted a shocked and happy Christopher Esber the trophy for the Australian International Woolmark prize yesterday.
The designer, in only his fourth year of operation after completion of the East Sydney TAFE Fashion Design Studio, cited the $ 50,000 prize money and the international exhibition game changer imminent at this stage of his career.
"The financial part will really help the development of textiles," Esber said.
"There's only so much you can do at this point., You can create a unique (part of the competition), but how do you sell?
"That means the budget to really talk with factories in Italy and do things on a larger scale."
Esber winner featured a cream cardigan with a loop texture camouflage pattern on a black trimmed with zipper front and rear combination worn.
Tuesday night, the label based in Hong Kong ffiXXed, Kain Picken and Fiona Lau of designers, released the regional price of Asia during the past week, Joseph Altuzarra won the U.S. price. Connect siblings knitwear label in London, who won the European award based three weeks ago. India and the Middle East segment will be announced next week.
For the next six months, the five regional winners will each presented a capsule collection of wool, which is in Milan during Fashion Week in February.
